The writer creatively got the reader’s attention in the introduction. Transitions are used to move from point to point. 10 Content: The voice is strong and reflective. Writing details the student’s process using sensory details and outlines that of a published writer. There are quotes or paraphrases about this writer’s process and/or examples from the assigned reading. The work is 3-4 pages. 20 MLA: Rules are followed in content and form. The work includes a heading with appropriate information, running header with name and page numbers. The work is double-spaced and in Times New Roman font. The Works Cited page includes a reference to The Paris Review, Diaz interview or other source. The indents are correct. Any citations within the body are appropriately formatted. 10 Grammar/Spelling/Mechanics: The paper reflects correctness of expression. There are few if any errors in usage, punctuation, capitalization or grammar. Spelling, spacing and indentation are correct. Sentences are clearly composed and require little revision for clarity. 10
