In this project you will be adding basic formatting to a brochure for the The RW Morris
Marketing agency. First, you will remove unwanted formatting from a line of text. Next, you will
change the font and line spacing for the entire document. You will remove extra lines and
spaces in the document. You will apply styles to text as well as use the Format Painter tool to
copy and paste formatting from one selection to another. You will also convert text into a
numbered list and a bulleted list.

Steps to complete this project:
Mark the steps as checked when you complete them.
1. Open the start file WD2021-SkillReview-2-1. The file has been automatically
renamed to include your name. Only change the project file name if directed to do
so.
2. If the document opens in Protected view, click the Enable Editingbutton in the
Message Bar at the top of the document so you can modify it.
3. Clear the formatting on text.
a. Select the second line in the document. The one beginning with “Putting.
b. On the Home tab, in the Fontgroup, click the Clear All Formatting button.
4. Change the font and size on all the text in the document.
a. Press Ctrl + A to select all text in the document.
b. On the Home tab, in the Fontgroup, click the arrow next to theFont box
and choose Calibri Light.
c. In the Font group, click the arrow next to the Font Size box and
choose 12.
5. Change the line spacing on all the text in the document.
a. Verify the entire document is still selected.
b. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click the Line and Paragraph
Spacing button and select 1.15 to change the line spacing.
6. Show formatting marks and remove extra spaces and blank lines.
a. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click theShow/Hide button to
reveal formatting marks in the document.
b. Delete the extra spaces at the end of the first line of the document.
c. Delete all the extra blank lines between paragraphs in the document. Hint:
There are four blank lines that need to be deleted.
d. Click the Show/Hide button again to hide the formatting marks.
7. Use styles to apply a heading format to a section heading in the document.
a. Select the Our Goal heading on the first page.
b. On the Home tab, in the Stylesgroup, click the Heading 1 style to apply it
to the text.
c. Apply the Heading 1 style to the following lines of text:
• Experience
• Why RW Morris?
• The RW Morris Belief System
• Client Quotes
• Professional Credentials
8. Change the spacing before the paragraph on the selected heading.
a. Select the Our Goal heading on the first page.
b. Click the Layout tab.
c. In the Paragraph group, click the Before down arrow two times to change
the spacing before the text to 12 pt.
d. Use this method to change the spacing before all the headings in the
brochure.
9. Change the character formatting, font, and color of text.
a. Select the text RW Morris Marketing at the top of the document.
b. Click the Home tab.
c. In the Font group, click the Boldbutton.
d. In the Font group, click the arrow next to the Font box and
select Verdana.
e. In the Font group, click the arrow next to the Font Size box and select 22.
f. In the Font group, click the Font Color button and selectOrange, Accent 2.
(it is the sixth color in the first row underTheme Colors).
10. Use the Format Painter to change the format of text.
a. With the text RW Morris Marketing still selected, on the Home tab, in
the Clipboardgroup, click the Format Painterbutton.
b. Select the text “Putting Your Needs First” to apply the copied
formatting.
c. On the Home tab, in the Fontgroup, click the arrow next to theFont
Size box and select 11 to change the size of the text.
11. Add a numbered list to and decrease the indent on a section of the brochure.
a. In the Why RW Morris? section, select all of the text below the heading.
b. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click theNumbering button
arrow and select the 1), 2), 3) option to apply the numbering style to the
selected text.
c. Click the Decrease Indentbutton once to change the left indent to 0”.
12. Add a bulleted list to sections of the brochure.
a. In the The RW Morris Belief System section, select all of the text below the
heading.
b. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click theBullets button arrow
and select the closed circle bullet option to apply the bullet style. NOTE: If
you cannot locate the closed circle bullet you can use the character
code 183 symbol for the bullet style.
c. In the Professional Credentialssection, select all of the text below the
heading.
d. Apply closed circle bullet style to the text.
13. Apply a style to text.
a. In the Client Quotes section, select the first quote and include the
quotation marks.
b. On the Home tab, in the Stylesgroup, apply the Quote style. You might
have to click the More button to locate this style.
c. Select the second quote in the section and apply the same style.
14. Change the paragraph alignment and apply a style on selected text.
a. Select –Jason Brown, Chesterfield, MO.
b. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click the Align Right button.
c. On the Home tab, in the Stylesgroup, apply the Intense Emphasis style.
You might have to click the More button to locate this style.
d. Select the text –Scott Davidsonand Associates, St. Louis, MOand apply
the same formatting.
15. Add shading and borders to paragraphs of text.
a. In the Client Quotes section, place the cursor in the first quote.
b. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click theShading button, and
select Blue-Gray, Text 2, Lighter 80%. It is the fourth option in the second
row under Theme Colors.
c. In the Paragraph group, click the Borders button, and select Top Border.
Click the Borders button again and select Bottom Border.
d. Apply the same formatting to the second quote in the section.
16. Save and close the document.
17. Upload and save your project file.
18. Submit project for grading.
