What are the major elements of a “global mind-set?” Analyze the theory of contingency leadership and discuss the role of culture in that theory. How can we use Hofstede’s four dimensions—power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism, and masculinity—to gain insight into leader– subordinate relationships around the world? Give specific examples and justify your stance with academic scholarly research in the KU online library.
Using Twitter, Facebook, and other forms of social media, Howard University students have worked together to challenge people to look beyond stereotypes of young Black men. This new form of activism reflects changing times, changing causes, and changing technology. Social media has changed the nature of social activism among students. Search the Internet for two other examples of teams of students using social media to promote a cause, protest, and/or address some social justice. In your initial posting address with each example, what was the goal of the students involved, and how do you think social media impacted students’ ability to achieve their goal? Do you feel that social media promotes or hampers activism among groups of students? Explain. What can managers learn from this? How can these learnings be applied to business?
