Week 12: Activity #6
Activity Directions:As previously discussed, compensation is a guiding factor that influences individuals in accepting an offer with an organization. But, compensation alone does not determine if an individual will accept an offer. Benefits, now more than ever, are exceptionally appealing to potential employees. Often, when discussing information about compensation and benefits, the term “total rewards” is referenced.Total reward offerings are a combination of the compensation and benefits offered to individuals for specific work. Over the years, organizations have become creative in terms of the benefits that they are offering employees. Not all organizations can offer the benefits that companies like Google or Microsoft offer. Recognizing the needs of your workforce is important. For this week’s assignment, you are required to select a generation of your choice, which is currently in the workforce. Presently, there are five generations in the workforce, which include: Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Generation X (Gen X), Millennials, and Generation Z (Gen Z). After you select your chosen generation, in a 2- to 3-page paper, please detail the following:
- Provide a brief overview of your generation, detailing information about birth years, common characteristics, world events that likely shaped/impacted this generation, and more.
- Provide details about generational preferences in terms of total reward offerings.
- Explain how HR professionals and organizations can cater to the needs of each generation when employing a multi-generational workforce.
Your assignment should be submitted in proper APA formatting and must be between 2- to 3-pages in length (not including your cover page or reference page). You are required to use Times New Roman 12-point font. Your paper must be double-spaced and use 1-inch margins. Before submitting your assignment, please ensure the following:
