In this peer-reviewed article “The Effect of Exercise on Body Satisfaction and SelfEsteem as a Function of Gender and Age, there was a study conducted to get the relationship that
involves an amount of exercise to the psychological fitness of an individual. The hypotheses of
the study was that people who exercise have an increased evaluation of self-worth. Additionally,
People who have high self-esteem remain active even in old age. Also, the study found out that
Persons who exercise regularly are fit even in their old age. The term old age in this study refers
to the later stage of life, a period exceeding 70 years of age. The results of the study found out
that it was women who exercise more to lose weight and enhance mood than men. With the
majority of the subgroups, the study proved decisive. The conclusion was that exercise has an
effect on self-esteem across various ages (Tiggemann & Williamson, 2000). The findings,
therefore, mean that there is an effect of the use on self-esteem and the satisfaction of the body.
