The project will take you some time as you are creating a podcast where you will be teaching your employees about one of the concepts we have learned about. You may select any topic that we have studied this semester and delve deeper into it. You will find that there are sample videos for you in the projects folder. Take the time to review them and lay out your project accordingly.
Take 10 for Training Project
As future business leaders, you must keep up with changes in the business world. One of the
best ways to accomplish this is remaining well-versed in current events that might impact your area. For
this assignment, we are going to simulate one of those training opportunities. You will be asked to
locate a current event (within the last two months), research the law that might have an impact on it,
and then share your findings with your staff. This paper contains information on how to accomplish each
one of these objectives. Please see the rubric for information on the grading of this assignment.
Selecting a Current Event
We have studied a number of different topics this semester from the court system to contracts.
Has one really stuck an interest with you? This is your opportunity to delve deeper into that topic. Once
you have chosen which area you are interested in, do a search using a search engine or the UALR library
on current events around this topic. Please make sure that you use a reputable source (as seen in the
rubric), as the saying is true that just because it is on the internet does not make it true. Make sure that
you choose an event that has occurred in the last two months, as the purpose of this assignment is to
keep your staff up to date on current trends.
Research the Law
Much as we did with our case brief assignment, you will research the legal topic that is at play in
your current event. You may use your textbook as a starting place for your research, but venture out to
new sources. What can you find on the Supreme Court website? Has NPR had a story on it? What does
the news say? Have there been any articles written? Remember that you need to provide solid
information to your staff, as bad information can be costly. In your research, find two cases and/or
academic (from the library) articles that address this issue or might have an impact on it. Make sure that
you share where you got your information from citing. Please upload your reference page in blackboard
using the appropriate drop box. References need to be in APA format.
Making the Video
You will be recording a “Take 10 for Training” video that you could share with you staff. Your
video will need to be at least 5 minutes long but no more than 10 minutes long. In this video, make sure
that you share why you chose this topic, how it might impact your area of business, and what you want
them to take away from this training (new policy or new procedure?).
You can record this video using a webcam, your cell phone, a go pro, etc. If you do not have this
technology, you are welcome to come to campus and utilize ours in the computer lab located on the
first floor of the College of Business. Once you high quality, well-lit, nice sounding (☺) video is recorded,
upload it into your dropbox in Blackboard. Make sure that you do not wait until the last minute on this,
as video upload can take some time.
