There are a variety of statistical tests that can be used to determine mean differences between samples, depending on the scope of your research and the types of variables you are analyzing. Proper care needs to be taken to choose the most appropriate test. This discussion question will provide you with an opportunity to create research questions that will fit the assumptions for each of three statistical tests.
Task:
In a minimum of about 300–500 words, post your responses to the Discussion Area addressing the following:
· Suggest one psychological research question that could be answered by each of the following types of statistical tests:
· z test
· t test for independent samples
· t test for dependent samples
· For each research question you created, identify the variables you would use when designing the three statistical tests.
· When responding, address both appropriate and inappropriate variables that were identified. Suggest alternatives to create a more appropriate research question.
Give reasons in support of your responses. Your discussion posts and all written assignments should reflect graduate-level writing skills and appropriate use of APA style, including in-text citations and references.
Support your rationale and analysis by using at least two resources from professional literature in your response. Professional literature may include relevant textbooks; peer-reviewed journal articles; and websites created by professional organizations, agencies, or institutions (.edu or .gov).
