To compare the improvement of air quality after quarantine (around March 20) with the air quality data of the same period in the past five years, GAM model or other models should be used to obtain the reduction amount (percentage) of four air quality indicators. Draw a series of graphs in R language, including a map showing air quality data (Los Angeles and New York), and a model test. Compare the air quality in these two cities.

< Back Assessing improvements in air quality due to Covid-19 Staff: Gavin Shaddick Dorka Fekete Project outline: Satellites has recorded substantial reductions in air pollution since the beginning of lockdowns associated with Covid-19. This first part of this project will aim to quantify the possible improvements in air quality over this time period by comparing current data with historical patterns in different countries, and to assess spatial differences in any reductions. the second part, the effect of any reductions in air pollution will be assessed in terms of health impacts in different countries. An important part of this will be quantifying the uncertainty associated with changes in air pollution and how this might feed through the calculations of the effects of health.
