This assignment will initiate the Final Project (WK8)process.
Read the Final Project Instructions, located in the Week
8: Final Project (wk8) Assignment area before you
choose a movement pattern within a sport.
Begin by selecting a specific, dynamic, movement
pattern in a sport.
For example… A volleyball spike, Basketball jump shot,
Slap shot, Soccer Dribble, Breast Stroke, High Jump,
Football or Rugby Tackle, etc.
(I chose the Basketball jump shot. Please use it for this
assignment)
This will be the focus of your final project. You will be
expected to locate a novice subject (person) to use in
your final project to compare to an expert performing
the movement.
Two Subjects – 1, Expert/Pro and 2,
Novice/Beginner.Keep this in mind as you choose your
Movement Pattern.
You may NOT CHOOSE: Any weight lifting activity,
including Olympic Weight lifting events. (We will work
with these events as a class) It must be a dynamic
sport movement.
National Governing Bodies, specifically from other
countries where government dollars support athlete
training for Olympic events, provide research into
proper performance and biomechanics of a specific
movement pattern. Therefore, Olympic events and
movements within those events are easily researched
and a plethora of information can be found regarding all
types of sport specific movements. Be creative and
choose a movement that is fun and allows for a broad
understanding of Sport Biomechanics.
Team USA, http://www.teamusa.org , is a great place
to start a search for an event and movement.
Select “Sports” and choose “Summer”, “Winter”, or
“U.S. Paralympics” to discover a broad range of sports
and events.
