The topic I want to address is a current legal issue dealing with baseball. A season ticket
holder is suing the Houston Astros over the team’s sign-stealing scandal. He is suing the
Astros for “knowingly fielding a deficient product”.This is important because of the legal and
monetary effects this could have on not only baseball but other sports and businesses. It also
could change the way the game of baseball is played and how rules are enforced.
Sports teams are billion-dollar businesses, that have a global reach. Lawsuits like this could
set a precedent if it is successful. A lot of impacts could be made with either decision.
The research I will need to do will see if any similar lawsuits have ever been filed
(precedents) and what are the potential legal issues associated with the actual suit and does
the lawsuit hold any legal standing.
