SFC Statutes that Govern Business Organizations in Florida Question

This assignment will require you to research the state statutes that govern business organizations in Florida.

Your assignment is as follows:

1. Do an online search for Florida Statutes. The statutes are organized within chapters. Please choose a statute within one of the following chapters:

a. Chapter 605: Florida Revised Limited Liability Company Act

b. Chapter 607:  Corporations

c. Chapter 617:  Corporations not for profit

d. Chapter 620:  Partnership Law

2. Submit a brief, one paragraph summary of the statute that you located, including the name and title of the statute and the statute number. Provide a concise, well-written summary of the statute. Include a brief summary of why the statute is important, or why business owners should be aware of the statute. Please note:  you are NOT being asked to summarize an entire chapter. Rather, identify ONE statute within the chapter— such as, for example, Fla. Stat. 605.0105- and summarize that individual statute. As you are looking through the listing of statutes within a chapter, you should get a sense for the wide variety of subjects and topics about business organization that are covered within the chapter. Find a statute that, in your opinion, would be important for a business owner to know of and understand.

3. Include a copy of the statute that you are referencing with your submission. Please do NOT just provide a web link to the statute.

The purpose of the assignment is not to be able to interpret each provision of every statute; rather, this assignment is intended to familiarize you with finding and reading statutes, and understanding why the statute is relevant. As always, you will be graded on the professionalism of your written work product. Be sure to check for spelling and grammatical errors.
