The provision of nursing care
to diverse patients is central to individualized use of the
nursing process.
Assignment
: The student(s) will
select a nursing diagnosis/patient problem and describe
assessment and interventions for
ONE specific cultural (diversity) group
with this diagnosis. Students will choose the patient problem and cultural g
roup approved by the instructors
no later than one week before the assignment is due. No change of topic will be allowed after
that date
. Examples:
Acute pain / Mexican American
Impaired verbal communication/ Russian
Instructions
: 1.
Perform a search of the topic (use Library Database Search > CINAHL Complete > Nursing journals) and gather at
least one (1)
nursing journal article per group member. The nursing journal articles discuss the specific culture
chosen and must be published
in the United States
within the last 5 years.
2.
The paper is limited to 3 pages (excluding cover and reference page, no abstract page required)

Body of the paper:
– Summary of the research findings regarding the chosen cultural group and the identified problem.
– Describe
general
nursing interventions for the identified problem.

nursing interventions would be modified to fit the chosen cultural group.
c.
Conclusion: describe how the information learned
will affect nurs
ing care. 3.
Format: typed, double spaced,
Times New Roman font style, 12
-point font, 1
-inch margins, correct grammar,
punctuation, spelling, and vocabulary. Use first
-person personal pronouns.
4.
Citations and references follow the most current APA format.
Grading:
This written assignment is worth 20 points.
