A key outline should show the different topics related to the assignment. The different topics should somehow connect to show the relevance to the main topic. Outlines should have a thesis statement. This statement should contain a sentence summarizing the information the paper is trying to present (www.lavc.edu).
Outline Format
I. Introduction- Thesis Statement
II. Main Topic- This will increase the comprehension of the reader
III. S-Q- Three R Study Plan, see example below:
Step one: Survey- Summarize all major points
Step two: Questions- Create them so you can answer them as you write
Step three: The three R’s are read, recite and review
Read material, recite answers out loud, review for error and correct (www.isu.edu).
To accomplish these things you must have good coordination skills:
Define your audience
Decide what type of outline to use
Do a draft to gather main thoughts
Highlight the main thought
Allow spaces to add subsections, Example: A., B., C., etc (www.ehow.com).
