Background Information
CapraTek is a German-based company with its Headquarters in Berlin. CapraTek has a
global reach with regional offices and management all over the world. The company is involved
in the manufacture of solar products and equipment.
Job purpose
CapraTek company is looking to hire a sales representative who will work in the
department of sales and marketing in California Region. The sales representative will be based in
California, where he/ she will be tasked with the responsibility of marketing the products as well
as the equipment manufactured by CapraTek. The company makes solar-based products and
equipment. This position has been created in the company to help boost the sales of products
through the sales and marketing department. The sales representative will be work under the
sales and marketing manager and will be responsible for the sales of CapraTek products in the
whole country. California is a developed state in the US that makes a good market for the
purchase of Solar products in accordance with its millennium development plan, where lighting
every home is one of the objectives.
Roles and responsibilities
The sales representative will be responsible for the preparation of proposals, contracts,
presentations as well as quotations for potential customers.
The representative will be tasked with the responsibility to select the solar energy product,
services as well as systems on behalf of customers based on their prices, electrical ratings, prices,
site conditions, and other vital factors. The sales representative will be responsible for providing
the customers with key information on our products and equipment through Quotations, orders,

shipping warranties, incentives, available payment options, or even tax rebates. He/ she will also
be responsible for gathering information from different prospective customers to be able to
identify their solar energy requirements and be able to advise accordingly.
Provision of technical information on solar systems, solar equipment, solar systems, and
solar products to potential customers and solar equipment and systems dealers. The sales
representative will be responsible for the calculation of the potential solar resources and the
production in a solar array for the particular sites in consideration of climate factors, shading as
well as the orientation of the roof during installation. The CapraTek company sales
representative shall help in identifying and landing potential customers. He/ she shall develop the
marketing plans for the company products
The representative will help in the generation of solar energy customer leads for the
development of new accounts. The sales representative will be responsible for taking quotations,
orders from individual customers or solar systems, and Equipment dealers. He/ she will also help
to assess the sites to determine the suitability of the solar system or equipment through the use of
computer software, compasses as well as tape measures. He / she will help in preparing or
reviewing the design drawing detail for the solar systems and equipment, their specifications, or
the listed that are related to their installation. Responsible for growing the company’s customer
portfolio by landing new customers and dealers in California.
Technological skills
The sales representative should be conversant with software for the solar analysis for
analysis using scientific software. He/ she should be efficient in the use the Autodesk Auto CAD,
which is a computer-aided CAD design software. The sales representative should have a vast

knowledge of data management systems and software such as the Adobe Acrobat. The
representative should be well knowledgeable on the electronic mail systems and software
through Microsoft outlook and other software.
He/ she must possess Microsoft office use skills, which is one of the office suite software.
Conversant with the Presentation software’s such as the Microsoft PowerPoint. Should be able to
use spreadsheet software such as Microsoft excel. Must gave excellence in use of the word
processing software such as the Microsoft word.
Tools needed for the Job
The tools needed to have the job done include desktop computers, Ladders, Personal
computers, Compact digital cameras, computerized data collectors as well as solarometers which
are apparatus for surface solar radiation observing

showing, selling as well as promoting the company’s solar products and equipment. These

support. This will also be accorded to the new sales representative.

accorded to the sales representative to be recruited in California.
Requirements
The candidate must have a sales and marketing, business administration, electrical engineering or
any other related course. He or she must have at least two years of experience and above. Must
be registered with a professional body. Should be legally eligible to work in the US. Women and
marginalized people are encouraged to apply. The sales representatives will reside in Kenya,
where his/ her base of operation will be.
Selection plan
The company will be mandated to conduct the first two phases of the recruitment process
without the direct involvement of the CapraTek staff. This is aimed at helping in the reduction if
the number of candidates who will be invited for the phase to phase interview.
The sales representative job advertisement will be done through social media platforms.
A candidate who meets the minimum requirements will be shortlisted. The shortlisted candidates
will be taken through a very rigorous selection process. The first phase will involve conducting

an online amplitude test. Those who will pass the amplitude test will be successful for the next
stage of the vetting process.
After the amplitude test, a video interview will be conducted to the successful candidates.
This will include the candidate interacting with the interview panel through video conferencing;
this will mainly focus on the candidate’s personality, their intelligence quotient, their educational
background. It will also involve finding out their knowledge about the products of CapraTek
company. The, who will have had experience with the use of solar, solar systems, and solar
equipment, will have a competitive edge over the others.
Candidates with the technical knowhow on the installation of solar systems, solar
products, and solar equipment also stand a better chance of selection for the next phase of the
recruitment process. The interview panel will select the candidates who will stand out during the
video conference interview for the next stage of the recruitment process.
The successful candidates will then be invited for a phase to phase interview that will be
conducted in the CapraTek company offices in California. The sales manager of the CapraTek
company in the California region will run point in the whole recruitment process with the
assistance of the assistant, human resource manager of the California region. The two will be
assisted by the corporate staffing company in the recruitment process, which is a recruitment
company in the US.
After the shortlisting of candidates for the phase to the interview, the Sales Manager and
the assistant human resource manager will now join the corporate staffing recruitment team to
finalize the process. This interview will be aimed at knowing the candidate mare and assessing
whether they are conversant with solar systems solar equipment and products. It will also be

designed at assessing that hands-on experience on the technical aspects of solar systems, solar
equipment, and solar products. Verification of the academic and professional credentials to the
candidates will also take place during the interview.
The successful candidate will be hired and taken through further training under close
supervision from the California region sales manager for two months, after which he/ she will be
ready to work as a sales representative for the CapraTek company in California.
