area. Utilizing information gathered from reading your textbooks, class discussions, and your research
project, discuss your discipline “Public Administration” – responding to the following (logically), as
listed, in a manner that is cohesive, in depth and would indicate your thorough knowledge of the field
of Public Administration. ALL RESPONSES MUST BE extensive. NO PARAGRAPHS LESS THAN 6 TYPED
LINES. Make sure all writing is graduate level – REVIEW before submitting!!! DOCUMENT!!!!
1. Define/discuss, in detail, “What is Public Administration?” per the major scholars, (Nicholas
Henry, David Rosenbloom, Shafritz and co- authors of “Introducing Public Administration” ).
Define and discuss the Public Sector vs. the Private Sector vs. the Non-Profit Sector. This
section Must be a minimum of (2) two full pages.
2. Define/discuss, “What is Public Policy?” per the following authors – Thomas Dye, David Easton
and William Jenkins. List and discuss the typical steps in the policymaking process, (per
Shafritz, Neal Tannahill or another prominent author). As described in your textbook (also
utilize notes received) discuss – What is Organizational Theory? What is Classical Organization
Theory and Neo-Classical Organization Theory? – elaborate on what makes them different.

3. As a public administrator it is imperative that you are familiar with various other disciplines,
such as economics, business administration, sociology, psychology, and political science. You
have studied the ideas of various authors/theorist in these fields and their connection to Public
Administration. A.) List these notable theorist (all the theorist discussed in “Mastering Public
Administration”) and B.) Briefly discuss the theoretical ideas of Luther H. Gulick and Herbert A.
Simmons, in regards to Public Administration. (Minimum (2) two full pages)
4. What is the title of your research paper? Discuss at least two political issues related to your
topic; discuss national, state or local policies related to the topic; who are the public officials
and stakeholders involved and what were the views of the resource people (you interviewed or
quoted from your literature review) regarding your topic; what were the problems and your
solution(s) to the problems related to your topic. Briefly discuss the policy you researched.
