1. Click the “Home” tab at the top of the page; change font to “Times New Roman”; change to 12 point font
2. Click on the “Page Layout” tab at the top of the page> then “Margins”> then “Normal”
3. Under the “Page Layout” tab click on the bottom right corner of the box titled “Paragraph” (it is the 4th box from the left); go to “Line Spacing” and change to “Double”; click “OK”
4. Click on the “Insert” tab at the top of the page; click the “Page Number” icon; then “Top of Page”; select “Plain Number 1”; type in full title of your paper – upper case; hit the space bar enough times so your page number is right justified; click on the “Close Header and Footer” icon (This should appear under the “Design” tab at the top of the page)
5. Click the “Home” tab at the top of the page> click on the “Center” icon on the toolbar
6. Hit “Enter” about 4 times
7. Type in full title of paper (upper/lower case), hit “Enter”; type your name, hit “Enter”; type course abbreviation and number (GEN/200), hit “Enter”; type date, hit “Enter”; type instructor’s name
8. Hit “Enter” several times until “Page 2” shows up
9. Return to page 1 and double click on the header. Place a checkmark in the “Different First Page” under the “Options” tab on the toolbar (your header will disappear, don’t worry, it is supposed to).
