EQUIPMENT SURVEY PROJECT
The first major project for this course will be a survey of reprographic equipment and printers. This project will be based on the following:
· At least one catalogue from an office equipment vendor (such as Office Depot or Staples)
· Internet research on two different manufacturers of copying machines and two different printers
· Internet and/or textbook research covering the factors one uses when considering the purchase of office equipment in general and an office copier and printer specifically; the printer analysis must be based on an actual visit to an office supply store
This project will culminate in a formal research report consisting of the following components:
· Title Page
· Letter of Transmittal
· Table of Contents
· Body, which must include two completed copier checklists, one for each copier, and two completed printer checklists, one for each printer under consideration; actual recommendation of which of the two copiers and which of the two printers would be more suitable; and an Excel chart listing the cost comparison of at least five different office supplies, based on the two selected catalogues
· Bibliography, consisting of all text and Internet research
· Appendix, consisting of a specimen equipment checklist form
A sample/draft of a copier checklist is already available on the T drive, located in Instructor files, Professor Levy, Office Administration. You should adapt this checklist to use it for printers as well. Samples of the title page, letter of transmittal, table of contents, body, and bibliography are available both in Blackboard, instructor files, and will be discussed during class lecture.
