Programming Concepts and Problem Solving

Scenario: You were given the role of project manager of a new inventory system for a local hardware
store. You will lead a team of developers who are tasked with all phases of the application life cycle. You
and your team met with the store owner and discussed the company’s needs and the basic features that
the system should include. The application will be web-based and will allow the store’s customers to
search its inventory, order parts, pay for the parts, and have the parts delivered.
After the meeting with the owner, your developers begin outlining the program from their perspective.
Although they have not begun coding, the developers are beginning to plan the classes and objects of
the project using UML. Their outline is not complete, but a plan for accomplishing the required tasks is
coming together. You want to divide the job in such a way that team members can work on different
parts of the program at the same time.
Answer the following questions about the scenario:
Meeting with the company’s managers is part of which stage of the application life cycle? How do you
know?
Do you think a prototype of this system in this scenario should be used? Why, or why not?
Your journal entry must be at least 200 words in length. No references or citations are necessary.
