•Discuss the difference between the federal funds rate and the discount rate.

•Thoroughly explain the monetary policy tools. How might the Federal Reserve use these tools when taking an expansionary stance? How might the Federal Reserve use these tools when taking a contractionary stance?

•Include a discussion of the Federal Reserve System and its independent relationship to the Federal government. Should it be independent? Why, or why not.
