1. Pick an animal, not a human (also not a domesticated animal) and answer the following questions in full sentences.
2. What are three important organ systems in this animal? This question applies to entire organ systems such as the nervous system, the cardiovascular system, and not about just a specific organ
3. How is the first organ system adapted to suit the animal’s specific environment?
4. How is the second organ system adapted to suit the animal’s specific environment?
5. How is the third organ system adapted to suit the animal’s specific environment?
Be very aware that this is NOT asking you to describe the internal organs of this animal. The assignment is asking you to relate the internal structure of the animal to how it is adapted and well suited to its environment. (For example, the skeletal system of a wading bird such as a flamingo – the leg bones are elongated so the bird is suited to search for food in a wetland area. The bones are hollow to reduce weight, the myoglobin is specific to etc…) You are to examine organ systems and how they help the animal be successful in its environment.
Note, you must have an understanding of the animal’s environment in order to do this assignment. Then you must link the internal structures to the environment.
NOTE: You must choose one specific organism on which to base this assignment. This organism may not be generic. For example, “fish” or “whale” or “fly” or “crocodile” is not an acceptable answer. It would need to be a specific fish, such as the Largemouth Bass, or a specific whale such as the Blue Whale. This applies to mammals, birds, etc.
Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines. Must be specific and detailed.
