This practice set has two SPSS analyses for you to complete. Prior to running each test, write
the null hypothesis that you will be testing. Copy the results tables below the question and
write a complete interpretation of the analysis.
It will use more than one data set (the appropriate data set is noted at the beginning of each
question). Use the Satisfaction_Trust Survey Data file in which you recoded variables for the
Recode_Compute Practice Set (if you saved it to your computer).
You will need to recode “q10” if you did not do that in the SPSS Recoding Practice Set. You will
also need to recode “Rating of Doctor’s Trustworthiness” to complete these analyses.
To recode “q15” (Rating of Doctor’s Trustworthiness) into two categories: “MD not
trustworthy” (codes 1-3) and “MD trustworthy” (codes 4-5).
To recode “q10” (Doctor Acts in Patient’s Best Interest) into two categories: “Does not act in
best interest” (codes 1-3) through “Acts in best interest” (codes 4-5). This was recoded in the
SPSS Recoding Practice set.
I recommend that you save the SPSS data files to your computer.
Question 1 – Use the Satisfaction_Trust Survey Data.sav file.
Is there a relationship between patients’ belief that their doctor acts in their best interest and
their belief that their doctor is trustworthy?
