1. The National Labor Relations Board oversees most labor relations activities in the private sector and was created by the 1935 National Labor Relations Act (Heavrin C., & Carrell M. R., p. 31). The goal is to set up potential projects while strengthening the nation’s economy. The board also plans to implement policies and provisions of the Act. To ensure employees reach high-performance levels, the strategic plan allows them to freely express themselves regarding their workforce. An employer must furnish information in the negotiation process due to collective bargaining. This is a negotiated contract with their employer regarding their benefits package. A benefits package includes 401 k retirement benefits, PTO hours, health insurance, and possibly life insurance.

2. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is a federal agency appointed with authority to investigate and enforce the rights within the National Labor Relations Act.  Primarily revolving around the rights that employees have to group together or organize, take action in efforts to boost their pay and labor conditions, all while having the opportunity to unionize if they so choose to without the consent of employers. The main reason an employer must furnish information in a negotiation process is how the NLRA prohibits employers from interfering, dominating, discriminating, retaliating and or refusing to participate in negotiations.  Failure to comply with this leads to consequences and the NLRB is there to help unions and laborers walk through the steps to get to a resolution. Basically, there is not any other choice, but to participate.
