Project overview

Olivia Lamdan owns the World at Your Fingertips Travel Agents in Middletown CT. The concept is simple; provide services that cannot be offered through the various Web sites which promote cheap travel. She intends to use the Internet as an information resource but offer trained agents in local offices and phone services to their clients. Services include information lectures on vacation destinations, history classes prior to travel, seminars on the local food and drink available for the traveler, as well as financial planning for the trip. In order to grow the business, she needs to train existing agents and hire new agents. She recruits and trains her agents using a PowerPoint presentation. She has a rough draft of a presentation and asks you to help her revise the presentation.

Instructions

Open the file Emerge_PowerPoint2010_ CP1a_FirstLastName_1.pptx and save the file as Emerge_PowerPoint2010_CP1a_FirstLastName_2.pptx before you move to the next step. Verify that your name appears in the Notes on the first slide. (Note: Do not edit the Notes on the first slide. If your name does not appear in the Notes, please download a new copy of the start file from the SAM Web site.)

Delete Slide 3 (“Our Plan”).

Move Slide 5 (“Office Locations”) so it becomes Slide 3.

On Slide 2 (“Our Company”), add a new bulleted item to the end of the bulleted list, with the text Over 3 million dollars in sales last year.

On Slide 2, add the speaker note New Web site to launch next fall.

On Slide 3 (“Office Locations”), after the fifth bulleted item (“Training Center is in New Haven”), insert the bulleted item Conference center is in Bridgeport.

On Slide 4 (“Categories of Seminars Offered”), move the bulleted items “Exploring the hiking and walking trails” and “Am I really fit for adventure travel” up so they appear below “Learning to cook the local foods” and above “Understanding wine through tastings”.

On Slide 5 (“Requirements to Be an Agent”), break up the phrase “Good communication skills Oral and written” into two bullets “Good communication skills” and “Oral and written”. Then demote the bulleted items “Oral and written” and “Second and third languages a plus” to a second-level bullets under “Good communication skills”.

On Slide 6 (“High Profile Tours”), apply an underline font style to “Fabulous Cities” in the fourth first-level bullet.

Animate the slide titles on slides 2 through 6 with the Swivel animation (in the Entrance category).

Animate the bulleted lists on slides 2 through 6 with the Shape animation in the Entrance category. Modify the animation for the subbullets on Slides 3 and 5 so that the subbullets also animate individually.

On Slide 7 (“For more information”) animate the content text box using the Split animation in the Entrance category.

Add the Ripple transition to all the slides, and then remove it from the title slide.

On all slides except the title slide, add the footer text The World at Your Fingertips and display the slide number. Notice that for this presentation’s theme, the footer and slide number appear on the upper right corner of the slide.

Check the spelling throughout the presentation, and check for contextual spelling errors as well. Change misspelled words to the correct spelling, and ignore any words (such as proper names) that are spelled correctly but are not in the built-in dictionary.

Read each slide, proofreading for spelling errors that the spelling checker didn’t detect. Notice that, on Slide 5, the word “weak” should be “week.” Contextual spelling failed to detect this error, probably because the bulleted items are not complete sentences. Make that change and correct any other spelling errors you find.

Your presentation should look like the Final Figure below. Save your changes, close the presentation and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM web site to submit your completed project.
