Empowering crime victims through mandated policies and procedures not only reinforces victims’ rights but also those of professionals entrusted to uphold and value victims’ rights. Conduct an Internet search for the Thurman v. City of Torrington and the Castle Rock v. Gonzales cases. Carefully read through each case to gain an understanding about the rights and the roles of the victims in your selected case, as well as what type of policy and procedures need to be in place for law enforcement officials. Devise a law enforcement department policy that would stipulate procedures for how police officials should address and support the needs of a crime victim involving a domestic violence situation.
