Select a musical work of your choice from any genre and write a brief paper, describing the work and what you like about it. The paper should be double-spaced and about 1 ½ pages long. The paper should include: 1. Your name, date & class section 2. Name of the musical work 3. The genre (ex. Rap, R& B, Country, Rock, etc) 4. Performer’s Name 5. Composer’s Name 6. A brief biography on the performer (about 1 or 2 paragraphs) 7. A brief biography on the composer (about 1 or 2 paragraphs) 8. A musical analysis: What are the instruments being played? What makes the music memorable? Is it the bass line? Is it the lyrics? Is it the melody line? Is it the percussive beat? Is it monophonic? Polyphonic? Homophonic? 9. The lyrics 10. Find at least 2 sources (newspaper, journal article, internet, etc) about the performer and/or composer. One must be from other source than internet. 11. You will have to cite your work.
