Final Report – Research Report Course Grading: This Final Course Report is worth 5% of your total course grade! Due Date: The completed report is due June 1, 2012. Print a hard copy of your report and submit it to your Teaching Assistant’s mail box in the Mechanical Engineering Department office no later than 3 pm on 1 June 2012! Task You will do independent research on Micro Air Vehicles (MAV) and prepare a report on your findings. Report Structure The report should be at least five (5) pages long plus the additional pages of the bibliography and appendices. You must have at least five (5) documented resources. Use any format you wish for your bibliography. Please understand, WIKIPEDIA IS NOT A RELIABLE RESOUCE! Your final report is to be double spaced, with 12pt font. You can use Times New Roman font. Include a cover page. You must print copies of each website you visit for your report, even if, you did not include the material in your writing. All the information in the appendices may add several pages to your report. If you cannot staple your report, go to the Mechanical Engineering Department office and use their ‘large format stapler’. The report should contain the following sections: ï‚· Cover Sheet ï‚· Abstract: 100 word summary of the research you conducted. ï‚· Introduction: Explains to the reader what they are about to read. This is NOT a summary. That is the purpose of the abstract. ï‚· Purpose: Why are you writing the report and what is the significance of MAVs? ï‚· Research and literature review: What are Micro Air Vehicles? Who wants MAVs? Who is studying MAVs? What types of MAVs are out there? Discuss the significance of miniaturization. What jobs can you obtain (potentially) in the MAV research and production area? Include any other relevant information to this topic. ï‚· Why are MAV devices used? What are its functions? What are some common applications? What are some future areas of applications? ï‚· Conclusion: What did you learn? How will you use this new information? Do you have any recommendations for future students doing the same research paper? ï‚· Bibliography ï‚· Appendices: Include printed copies of each source used to write up this paper. Please: Do not forget to send me the sources’ links you visited in this research, so I can can print them even though you did not use them in the paper. Please: Do not forget the Bibliography page about the sources you used in this research and also, another page for the works cited.
