•
Consider the inventory management and tracking systems in your research based on the four course objectives.
1. Develop an understanding of the value and costs savings available through implementation of warehouse and inventory
management systems.
2. Develop an understanding of an inventory management project plan which considers: customer requirements; cost; and
technology for a WMS.
3. Create a flowchart to track the movement of goods or services within an organization.
4. Develop an understanding of asset classification including physical tracking systems (bar coding, asset tags, s/n’s, RFID).
•
Select an existing company for which you will develop and propose an inventory plan. Make sure to note the history, management style,
stated mission, vision, and values of the selected organization.
You may select a company from one of the Fortune 500, fortune.com/fortune500/, or any other established company. Keep the details of
this company in mind as you conduct additional research.
Step TWO: Analysis Paper
•
•
•
Analyze existing inventory management systems, focusing on the strengths and limitations in regards to available cost savings through
inventory management and inventory movement tracking systems, consideration of customer requirements, warehouse technology
management systems, asset classification and RFID options.
Take careful notes to help support your inventory plan proposal.
Prepare a six- to eight-page analysis paper to help support your PowerPoint proposal.
Step THREE: Inventory Plan Proposal & Flowchart
Materials and Inventory Management Summative Assessment: Outline & Rubric

to the need for an inventory management plan).
o
Propose an inventory plan (based on your research) and explain how this plan will benefit the company. Be sure to address available
cost savings, consideration of customer requirements, warehouse management and technology systems, and physical tracking
systems (including asset classification and RFID options).
o
Create a simple flowchart that models the proposed movement of goods and services within the selected organization.
Step FOUR: Complete Checklist for Submission
Before you submit, check to see if you believe you have met the criteria noted below.
