Watch the talk by Patricia Kuhl, entitled The Linguistic Genius of Babies. How do her findings support language acquisition in regard to phonology as it is described in Chapter Six of your text?

How did your own social context impact your phonological awareness?  

 

Chapter Six describes language acquisition in regard to phonology as: “By 9 months infants prefer to listen to words made up of sound sequences that are used in their native language, rather than words made up of sound sequences that do not occur in their native language.”
