Does the application of the “three strikes laws” have a place in ensuring the prevention of crime and protection of public safety in the U.S.? How? Is there anything within the purview of the “three strikes laws” you would like to change? Why?

Are the police authorized to require individuals to identify themselves under the US Constitution? If so, under what circumstances? In your opinion, does requiring identification constitute a breach of the Fifth Amendment, providing that a person cannot be compelled to testify against himself or herself?
