Learning Activity #1 Ethical Organizational Decision Making Can be Encouraged

In this activity state how you would define a leader and what the leader’s role is in shaping the ethical environment of a company. Explore what you believe are the steps to creating an ethical organizational culture and the barriers that can prevent the creation of that culture. Examine the role of a board of directors in creating and maintaining the ethics of a corporation and what the personal characteristics of those board members are that determine ethics in the corporation. State whether you feel that society has a right to expect its leaders to be more ethical and moral than the people that they lead and justify your position.

Learning Activity #2— Unique Ethical Organizational Issues

 State your views on the ethical boundaries that an organization/company should have, if any, in marketing their products or services. Take a position on whether you feel that advertising should be subject to censorship and justify that position particularly on marketing to children. State what you think of the concept of “manipulative marketing”, where the central premise is on the ethics of preying on the psyche of a particular individual or group. Discuss your position on the use of child labor, especially in overseas operations and its impact on multinational businesses and the indigenous economies. The issue of a company’s use genetic screening is raised in the readings for this week. This can be an indicator of aptitude and potential health concerns. State your position on the issue and justify it.
