Scenario
Before leaving the Creature Café, you’ll want to grab a drink to give to Grayscale. Of course, it can’t be just any drink, it must be the new flavor from Happy Dragon. You’ve already successfully designed the label and now you must make sure the can is branded with it. Once this is done, you’ll be all set to meet Grayscale face-to-face. When Grayscale finishes drinking, she’ll be ready to accept your offer of helping her get her colors back!
Since no one has actually seen Grayscale since her capture hundreds of years ago, you and your friends will be the first to see her magnificent colors when the curse lifts. All of Chromaterra depends on your success!
Prepare 2D Files
First, make any modifications you need to make to the can label design you created in Module 03. Then, export a PNG file that’s 2,000 pixels wide x 889 pixels tall.
Next, export a solid color PNG file that’s 4,096 pixels square.
Designing in 3D
In Dimension or Stager, add a soda can to the scene and scale it up. Apply the solid color PNG file to the Base Color of the can. Then, apply the PNG file of the design.
In Dimension, click the decal icon in the Actions panel.
In Stager, drag-and-drop the PNG file from a finder window onto the 3D can.
Add a gradient background to the scene. Edit it with Photoshop to colorize it in a way that will complement the can’s design. If using Stager, make sure to click the Frame Selection button near the top of the screen, to nicely center the can in the scene (so that it’s not cropped off).
Render and Submit
Once you’ve finished designing your 3D scene, save the DN or SSG file. Then, render it as a PNG file with Medium quality. Depending on your scene, it will be 1036 x 783 pixels, 1280 x 720 pixels, or 1920 x 1080 pixels. Either is fine. Again, before rendering the scene, make sure that the soda can isn’t cropped off.Submit the PNG file.
