Self Knowledge and Alignment

As you continue to learn more about who you are, and how to use GVV to create a better decision making and relationship building capability, you need to learn more about how you can successfully act on our values in a way that maximizes our strengths and is consistent with our values. In this week’s discussion you will be learning more about the Self Knowledge and Alignment pillar. Self Knowledge and Alignment means to voice and act on your values in a way that is consistent with who you are and builds on your strengths.

1. What points from this video were particularly relevant and interesting to you? Why?
2. To learn more about yourself and how you deal with situations most effectively, as discussed in the video, think about a time when you worked with another person(s) and considered it successful. This is a good example of relying on your strengths. In looking at this experience, think about some of these factors below and present a synopsis of what made this experience successful. The point is that there are no correct responses to these questions, but knowing how you are most comfortable and effective functioning can help you when working with others. Some items to consider as a starting pointAre you an introvert? An extrovert?Are you a risk-taker? Are you risk-averse?Do you like to work alone or in a team?Do you deal well with conflict or are you non-confrontational?Do you think best from the gut and in-the-moment, or do you need to take time to reflect and craft your communications?Are there other strengths you want to include that you have used successfully in the past?
3. As you continue planning for real world application of GVV, this pillar helps you the optimal circumstances for success. You will need to use the information from your synopsis above to set the stage. Using the same situation identified in prior units, present a draft plan for this situation. Include information on how your purpose statement helped you in creating this plan. Seek feedback from your peers for additional suggestions or options. You may want to save this information using this GVV worksheet as an action plan for implementing the GVV approach in a real world situation.
