For their upcoming exhibition “Passion for Fashion”, a museum in your local area plans to showcase the work of famous designers from 1950s to 2000s. You, as assistant curator, are responsible for the ‘80s section. The organizers would like to include three designers for this section, and are considering Jean-Paul Gaultier, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Norma Kamali, Donna Karan, Rei Kawakubo, Issey Miyake,

Giorgio Armani

,

Christian Lacroix

, Gianni Versace, and Karl Lagerfeld.

Choose three out of these eleven designers to represent the time period, and write a proposal on how to best exhibit work of the chosen designers. Your proposal should include:

· Explanation of why you chose these designers to represent the 1980s, identifying at least two features of the designer’s work that you feel reflects the ‘80s look.

· Apparel description of at least one outfit from the 1980s for each designer, to show in the exhibit. Each outfit description should include explanations of garments (including silhouette, construction, fabrics, and colors), accessories, and hairstyles.

· Images to show the designers’ outfits from the ‘80s.

· Explanation of how each designer influenced fashions during the ’80s—this explanation would appear on the information board placed alongside the outfits.
