My ethics is always triggering me to think about our responsibility to the environment and the next generation. If we think about for moment, we will find that it is not fair to pass our environmental problems to the next generation. The main issue of my discussion is that both industrialized and developed countries lack process in how to deal with the environmental problems. This problem should be solved by international interference, and it is unreasonable to wait until the problem get worst. Each and every country has to participate in solving this problem. As individual we have to participate too, and gives opinions and start strong actions in solving our environmental problems, and do not wait the policy makers action

3- It is time to take a stand to find solutions to issues affecting our environment. Using ethical decisions, There will be less pollution, waste and problems related to the environment. Countries need to start using strategies that are friendly to the environment. This is the only way to ensure a safe  environment for next generations. Factors threatening the environment have been present for many decades, but people never thought about doing anything to eliminate these factors. It is better to be proactive than reactive with these threats. Countries have to anticipate what can happen in the upcoming decades and not wait until it is too late to react. Therefore, it is the responsibility of every country and every person to reduce the threats affecting the environment.

2- believe that we are ethically obligated to care for our environment.  I do not think that people should view the earth as what we can use it for, but how we can live from it while benefitting it at the same time.  People talk about taking care of our earth all the time, but actions are worth more than words.  I think that until more people start caring for our earth, it will continue to slowly deteriorate. 

The major problem that we have today is using so many natural resources and polluting. As the population grows, human beings are going to have to be careful with how many natural resources they use because, obviously, they will eventually run out.  I think that sometimes people do not realize the impact that this will have on future generations.

4- I think it is highly important to value nature.  The world around us in full of many different living things.  The life that makes up the world around us has many different values to us.  I read a line in this chapter that sums up an interesting point that I agree with.  “The best human life is one that includes an awareness of and practical concern with the goods of entities in the nonhuman world.”  I think it is important to realize the importance of things in the world around us and begin taking steps to preserve those things.  I think too many times the small things go unnoticed.  Just because as humans we don’t find value in something, does not mean it does not have any value to us in our life in some way.

5- To me, nature is an important part of our ecosystem. Nature was at the very beginning of time when the world was first created by the almighty. He created nature and the animals that thrive from it. Without nature, we wouldn’t have the animals that exist today. Nature is what keeps us alive. It’s what provides the oxygen for us and the animals of our planet. Without it, our lands would be nothing but barren wastlands with barely any life able to sustain itself.

5- I think that the value of nature is lost in some areas around the world and the cause of that is neglect the pollution that threaten those areas and the lack of looking into the possible long term effects in those places.

     A lot of bad activities are going on in our world that are damaging the nature such as industrial pollution, greenhouses, deforestation. We need to be more serious about this danger to protect the environment and fix what we can fix from the destroyed areas.

7- Nature is all around us.  It is everything that sustains life on earth.  If we do not preserve it, it can not preserve us. Nature has given us so much for so long, but not taken care of, can not keep sustaining life as it has. The human race is coming to be educated in what our actions are doing to the earth.

8- Nature has always meant, to me, everything that is not human. If humans did not exist then nature could live self efficiently and could possibly do so until the end of time. With the addition of us, however, nature is pushed to its limits due to the destruction we humans cause. This interrupting or even tampering with the harmony of nature has led us to become the caretakers of it. 

The readers talks about how the west is in great need of a change in environment ethics. I think this still true even with today’s green standards. The problem isn’t with a lack of people dedicated but with a lack of following with your average person. Most people just go about their days and worry about their own lives. These people would rather leave the environmental solutions to someone else. They don’t realize that they are part of the solution. If everyone that believed this way were to get involved, there could be a huge change in western environmental ethics overnight. 

9- Sustainability is energy development and use alternative and renewable energy process. The earths ability to replenish itself in response to our consumption. A logging company or automobile company could benefit from sustainability. They can cut down millions of trees in the mountains and if they replant the trees in the mountains it will turn green again in the future. Automobile companies can benefit. Its estimated 10 years from now oil reserves may not last . They could use green energy instead of oil. I have made recycling bins for paper and plastic. It has cut down on the waste in my home and I’m doing my part to cut down waste in landfills.

10- There are many definitions to Sustainability. The definition that I found deal with carrying for the environment. According to Sustainable Measures site, sustainability is defined as ” the “long-term, cultural, economic and environmental health and vitality with emphasis on long-term, together with the importance of linking our social, financial, and environmental well-being”. My personal understanding to sustainability is ensuring the well-being of all parts of the environment including humans, animals and earth . 

I think that companies in the oil industry can have the most positive environmental impact by engaging in sustainable practices.

I would say that the oil industry is the one that should adopt most sustainable practices because it pollutes the air, and the water using chemicals. These chemicals used in the production of oil have serious threats and danger for individuals health. They also affect the life of other environment creatures including animals and plants.  Companies in the oil industry should come up with new ways of being green so that they can reduce their toxic waste, and pollution.

11- Sustainability means different things to different people. The word “sustainable,” means “able to be maintained”. This definition can be applied to various subject matters, including society as a whole, industry, agriculture, or family values. The concept of sustainability can be over-whelming because of the comprehensive nature of the word, but the root meaning is actually a simple concept that is nearly intuitive to most people. In my opinion, to define in an easy way, sustainability is to keep things longer. A good example for that is HARBEC industry which is considering the sustainability for the industry resources and to keep and maintain them longer

12- Sustainability is the ability to keep going for a long time and the ability of being sustainable.  Environmental sustainability is along term care about the environment by taking care of the nature for a long time.  Human beings work to keep their environment able to survive for a long time period.  Industries try to use products that are not harmful to the environment such as products that can be recycled and use things that do not pollute the environment.  The goal is to keep our environment sustainable by using things that are good to the environment and avoiding things that are bad to the environment.  It is also the ability to survive without human interference.  

    There are many industries that have the most environmental impact by engaging in sustainable practices such as Kodak, Xerox and Harbec.  The reasons why we should continue the use of sustainability are because we need our environments to be safe for a long time.  Also, it is good for trade when the environment is sustainable.  Human beings need to avoid pollution because the health of other creature is very important.  It is part of our environmental ethics to do what is correct to the nature.  It is also part of our religious beliefs to come up with what is good the future of our environments.

I believe sustainability to have been originally a word used to describe something as the ability to stay together and exist in the future. Once we began to observe the impact we were having on the environment, the word was then used to describe the environmental ethics of a company. If a company does a good job of getting the most out of natural resources then it has good sustainability, otherwise it does not and needs to change.

What I believe needs to practice in good sustainability are companies that deal in nuclear waste. As mentioned in one of our previous readings, what we do with our nuclear waste determines our future. Nuclear waste is something that many generations will have to deal with and producing more waste is out of the question. What needs to be done is finding a way to use even the nuclear waste so as to not increase our nuclear footprint. 

14 –      If I want to define sustainability I would say sustainability is the act of using less of the nonrenewable resources to meet human demands. So we can preserve the environment to meet human needs now and in the future.

     I believe that the industry that have most positive environmental impact by engaging in sustainable practices is Water Desalination industry. I cannot think of other industry have a positive environmental impact, I hope we see more friendly sustainable industries in the future.

2. The companies that I believe that will have great success are the fast food and electronic and shipping industries.

3. In the long run companies have promised to become more green and environmentally friendly. They have already made innovations to become better at using more recycled material and even us less of it. Plenty more can be done but it is a great start.

16- Sustainability is very important for countries, businesses, and even the environment. Sustainability means that to keep things active more than it usually do. So, sustainability is to keep our environment good and healthy for many years. Sustainability creates and maintains the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony, that permit fulfilling the social, economic and additional requirements of present and future generations. I believe that the maritime industry that regulates the fishing requirements for boats is the most concerned with having sustainable practices. This is because a large number of boats and fishers break the law and fish all year long. The maritime industry has to impose rules that protects fish in the ocean.
