1- I read from the article about how San Francisco is getting friendly with the environment , I can think about how my community could make a difference in the environment with new technology and safer and much low carbon emission like cars busses and other ways of transportation and cooling systems for the hot weather , my community could make a difference with solar system houses buildings etc to help people and help the environment , also I can add that my country TheUnited Arab Emirates is doing a paper less things like emails bills announcement and so many things for government work place buildings that make less trees get cut by people.
2- I think we are responsible for taking care of nature to have a good nature. So next generations can have good environmental. We need to be good stewards of the earth. I believe we have to take care of nature. Everything in the natural world is connected. An ecosystem is a community of living and non-living things that work together. nature is very important to human beings, we should be aware of it and see the world as you see your home.
3- Humans are valuing nature based on their need whether the nature gives them what they need to survive or not. Environmentalists believe that “environmental ethics cannot be derived from rights of nonhuman and from rights of future generation of humans.” Human beings judge the nature based on their ethics. Human beings who are interested more about the environment because they have strong environmental ethics. The weakness of Anthropocentrism has negatively impacted our environmental ethics. Anthropocentrism is defined as “the position on Loci value.” Nonanthropocentrism is defined as “Loci of fundamental value.” There are two forms of Anthropocetrism: a value theory in strong anthrocentric and a value theory in weak anthrocentric. Standard ethical theories in the United States and western Europe are individualistic. Environmental ethics differ from one society to another because people have different levels of knowledge and different interpretations of ethics. Every environmentalist thinks about environmental ethics with different worldview than the others. The meaning of ethics is different from one person to another based on how this person thinks about ethics and behavior.
4- I think without the nature the life can’t be, because the nature is everything. For example people cannot live without water, Cannot live without air, Plant source of food, and humans use plants in several areas, such as perfumes, clothing, medicines, books, heating, and they take the animal source of food, animal and human use in several areas such as clothing and furniture from the skin of animals, means of navigation, fishing, racing. All of these are in the nature so that’s why the nature is so important
5- I think that nonanthropocentrists have better environmental ethics. They believe that everything on the earth have their own moral standings. I feel everyone should take on these values. People need to have a respect for the earth and not look at it just for getting what they need out of it. I think that animals should have rights to be protected from abuse. I also think people need to be careful about overusing natural resources. It is also important for us to keep our earth clean and stop polluting. As we discussed in our reading section, our communities need to start promoting green technology. Keeping the belief that everything on the earth has its own moral standing should further encourage people to respect our earth.
7- In light of the reading, we need to show respect to our planet and to nature. We need to follow the examples of the people before us, like the native americans. They showed respect for nature and for the planet as they used her resources wisely, instead of using them for greed. We need to learn self-control over what we need or don’t need. Take from the planet but give some of it back, to show our respect for it. Also limiting on how much we hunt animals and show respect for them, only taking what we need to live on. If we do this, then I believe we can live a better life
8. To value nature is to value ourselves. Because we ourselves are apart of nature. Even though we feel we are above it and have complete control of it, we need to learn to value it. Humanity is a very special creature, we only value things that are rare and are hard to find. But at this pace nature and clean water will become rare and hard to find. Maybe then we will find value in it…

1- After reading the article, I think that San Francisco should be a role model for all other cities. This city uses technology to reduce pollution and take care of the environment. The city uses low carbon buses as a public transportation system which is very environmental friendly. In addition, using technology, people are now able to find the nearest recycling trash disposal. This is a good way to encourage people to recycle goods and eliminate waste.
I would suggest that my community can also use technology to be more green. I think that they should adopt some of the environmental strategies that San Francisco implemented. For example, communities can use place TV screens on public buses in order to display programs that can inform riders about the importance of being eco-friendly. These programs should be displayed on a regular basis which will make the idea of being eco-friendly stick in riders minds. As a result, people can become more friendly to the environment due to seeing such programs on Tv screens in the public buses.
2- <="" span="">I think, it is amazing to know than San Francisco use technology such as conveyors, computers, bins, and gears to reduce trash and decrease carbon emission, solve problem, and improve life of the people. There are several ideas that San Francisco did to reduce carbon emission and other problems and my community could do it by utilizing modern technology. One idea is that my community could use public transportation such as busses and tracking system (GPS) in order to help people track and know the arrival of the buss. Other idea that the county could set incentives for those who recycle by giving breaks on their trash pickup fees. There are many applications for technology to help the environment and solve problems that my community could benefit from and San Francisco and Seattle are great example to follow.
3- I absolutely love what San Francisco is doing! I think this should be done worldwide. Other than cost, which comes with any project, I do not see any negatives to what they are doing. Placing all of that technology into Terre Haute may be a little too much, but we could adopt some of the ideas. There is no largely used mass transist in Terre Haute, but the small program that they do have could use the wireless ideas for tracking as well as the solar powered bus stops and signs. The recycling building, although not much detail was given, sounds like a perfect things that could be placed next to the Wabash. As for the charging outlets for smart cars and scooters, I don’t see a demand for that in Terre Haute, but hopefully if the city ever goes green, the stations could be put to good use.
4- I think what San Francisco is doing is great. They are really making a difference. The article stated that they are recycling 75% of their trash, have transportation that does not release harmful gases, and have reduces their greenhouse gas emissions by 20% since 1990. I think that every city that can afford to adopt the green technology should.
I think that every community should have a low-carbon-emission bus. That would be a great way to help reduce harmful gases while also providing transportation. It would also be great for every community to get breaks on the trash collection fees for recycling. Also, I think communities should be sure to make it known to the citizens where the recycling centers are. In my home town, the majority of the people do not even know where it is and it is also somewhat hard to find.
5- What San Francisco is doing is a great step towards a greener future. The city took the initiative to encourage people to be greener by making it easier and more affordable. The costs are likely expensive but not only are they using tax dollars effectively, they are also using the recycling plant to recuperate loss. To me, this is a great example of sustainability. They not only keep junk yards from piling up as well the producing more material but they are also making money from it and using it to pay for more environmentally friendly projects. It is not optimal for the environment but it is a start to something that could help change how we treat the world.
Something our city could do locally is providing a cheap service that picks up recycles from your house and they could allow those that recycle often a tax break. This would encourage people to recycle and help with some of the trash on both the streets and dumps. The city could then use the money made from recycling to help with costs of the service. A cheap and environmentally friendly transportation would greatly help with the amount of emissions from cars and possibly ease traffic slightly.
6- These plants sound like a great idea to me. They will continually recycle the waste in the city. Also the new plans to introduce smart cars, scooters and electric bikes could help lower the emissions. It seems to me that San Francisco is trying to push its way into the future and are already trying to be more friendly to their environment, while the rest of us don’t do anything to help it. As for our areas, we could try to use solar panels more often to generate electricity, to help lower the costs on electricity usage and help make our city buses give out less emissions. I don’t know if we would have enough land to create a plant like San Francisco has, but it would be beneficial to our wastful habits
7- San Francisco is leading the way in innovative engineering and city planning. They have made huge strides in keeping carbon emitions from public transit low. They have also had help in the costs by teaming up with green companies and together have pioneered one of the first green cities. Many cities should copy and come up with their own ways of becoming more green.
8- Packaging is definitely a big part of the water pollution problem. Packaging greatly affects the animals that live in different bodies of water. For example, animal can get trapped in 6 pack plastic rings. Other items such as styrofoam can take over 80 years to degarde. They just sit in the water unless someone removes them.
This chapter mentions how the developed world just sees water as a commodity. They see it has something that just flows from a faucet. We really don’t think about, myself is included in this. We forget where are water comes from and how it gets to us. We need to reconnect with the world again and protect our water.
