Task description:
In order to complete Assignment 2 and Assignment 3 you will need to choose an event in your local area to attend and evaluate during session 3. The event must be of, either a cultural, sporting, or business nature. It can be a one time event such as a fundraising event, or an annual event such as a marathon or a regularly held event such as a local farmers market. A mega-event cannot be selected for this assessment task.
Assignment 2 and 3 are closely linked and will be based on the same event that you choose to attend during the semester.
You do not need to have attended the event in order to write Assignment 2. However you must be able to attend the event before completing the event evaluation in Assignment 3.
Using report format describe and analyse the planning intentions of the event in regards to the:
- Purpose, goals and objectives of the event;
- Event location, duration, frequency;
- The Event program;
- Community and corporate stakeholder relationships
- Event governance
- Expected event impacts and impact assessment
You can obtain this information from the event website, by speaking to the event organiser, through personal observation as well as online and secondary research. You do not need to have attended the event in order to write assignment 2 however you must be able to attend the event before completing assignment 3.
The report should be structured using a clear and simple format including;
- A table of contents,
- An introduction,
- Body – that addresses the key topics listed above. Headings should be used in the body of the report.
- Conclusion – summarises the key ideas that you presented; and
- A reference list
- Appendix (if relevant).
- NOTE – The table of contents, reference list and appendix will not be included in the word limit.
