Instructions
To complete the following exercises you can refer to the ‘Explore Europe map’. You can download blank maps of Europe from the ‘Tourism destinations’ online resource home page. However, some have been provided within the assignment for you. You should make several copies of the maps for practicing plotting destinations, gateways, main transport routes, physical features and adding your notes.
You will need to refer to additional resources to the online learning materials. These should include reliable internet websites, travel tour brochures for travel in Europe as many of these contain excellent detailed maps, government tourism authorities and associated travel associations for current information.
Following are some suggestions:
Refer to an accurate and reliable world atlas such as those published by Longman
Encyclopaedias or ‘wikipedia’ Internet websites, for example:
www.worldatlas.com/
http://getaway.ninemsn.com.au/
and
http://getaway.ninemsn.com.au/fact-
sheets/
http://travel.ninemsn.com.au/world/
Travellers’ guidebooks such as:
www.lonelyplanet.com.au/
http://www.frommers.com/destinations/Travel
brochures
http://www.worldtravelguide.net/country/countries.ehtml
Typing phrases such as ‘world map’, specific countries and destinations or name of tourism companies specialising in European destinations and travel, into search engines eg ‘google’, ‘yahoo’ etc.
