The American Ways: End to Inequality through Education
America is a country that is thought to be the home of civilization around the world because of it is many ways in which people regard education as a good and useful thing. I have done an interview with the need to know how people in United States of America think of education and how the education helps erase the big inequalities that exist in the world and America. In my home country, people and government do not take education as serious as in the America.
With the information that I got from various people in the interview that I made, it is clear that the people of America take education as the only way out of the many inequalities. Most of them think that with education, everything can be gotten because of the opportunities. In a bid to teach myself more about how the Americans do it, I read the book by George S. Counts, The American Ways that further explores the various ways and modes that the US people use education in their country (Counts, 191).
From the perspective of my interview in America, it is clear that education in America and also my home country Saudi Arabia, is regarded as a high thing and useful in all ways. Factories and industries require people with high education to lead their businesses, as they know that the high education means more mental capacity to lead the business to success. In addition, people with high education are paid more income and thus enjoy better living standards. One of my interviewees, T.J.Maxx, argued that education is not only important in America but in the whole world as it leads to better jobs and better opportunities. Thus, the value of education cannot be thought to be little (Counts 193).
The freedom in America makes it easy for any student from around the world to like studying in the land. More so there is a diversity of cultures in America and no discrimination. This is according to some excerpts from the book, “The American way” that argues that even if the country’s national language is thought to be English, there is no law or constitutional point that states that the national language of America is English. This makes it easy for all the natives I n the land to feel free and be able to exchange ideas and thus enhance the levels of education in this great country (Counts, 191).
The bid to end inequalities in the country goes back to many years ago when the country started to pass programs aimed at ending racial discrimination. In this regard, learning institutions were advised to make ways in which to end the menace. This affirmative action that was taken many years ago has made significant strides in checking the rights of the minority groups in America and thus has necessitated the development of the country in regard to education and other agendas. It has also led to the minimization of discrimination among different groups that include African American and Asians (Counts, 191).
Power of education in fighting these social injustices made seem less in any discussion on inequality in the United States of America. Education makes people wise and attempts to avoid people doing many mistakes. This means that when people are more educated, they are able to see all other races as one people and stop discriminating. This is what happens in America in the present day because all the people mingle well and there is no fear of discrimination. In fact, most native language speakers are able to learn English with ease (Counts, 191).
Civilization of America enables many people to achieve their dreams in education and the employment sector. There is little discrimination if any in this country. With the less problems and the fact that people can enjoy their country’s culture in America, the diversity of people is enhanced and thus it is possible to grow to what one wants to become in life. The book and interview information clearly shows that the country’s improvement and progress relies on education and in order to finish inequalities the education received by people in the country is important.
