or find a better one. You are the expert.
Your grade depends on how well you follow MY instructions to write YOUR instruction set.
· How to clean your house from top to bottom
· How to vote in your county; how to vote absentee; how to vote in person; how to vote from another country
· How to transfer titles on a car (1) when you have the title; and 2) when you have lost the title)
· How to get a divorce without an attorney
· How to photoshop a portrait (include an example of before and after)
· How to prepare for and engage in a job interview
· How to obtain a passport; how to get a replacement passport
Special
Instructions
:
· Familiarize yourself with the components (in the textbook and online) of an instruction set and use them.
· Use the memo format. (You should already have the template set up with the appropriate margins). Be sure to follow the page heading numbering instructions if more than one page.
· The subject of the memo will be “How to…….”
· Write an introduction
· Include only three major tasks and indicate what each will be in the introduction (this is called an advance organizer).
· Create a heading for each major task. Introduce the steps that will follow. Never just create a heading, and follow it with bullets or numbers without introducing the bullets or numbered list (see the online technical writing guide for examples)
· Include only three steps underneath each task. Use imperative voice or action verbs.
· Include some suitable computer graphics or take pictures yourself, in the appropriate places in the instruction set. By suitable, I mean don’t just throw a graphic in there that has nothing to do with the topic. If you want to show the result of something, use the right graphic; if you want to show some before and after(s), use the right graphic, etc.
