Research proposal

Length: 1-2 pages (includes topic proposal, possible thesis and outline)

Think of your proposal as your research plan. Your proposal should be 1-2 pages long, formatted to MLA standards, and address the following in well-organized paragraphs:

 

Topic: Privacy is under siege at work, at home, and online.

 

1. Title of Project:

Provide a working title for your essay. The working title of the essay is also the title of the proposal.

 

2. Statement of Purpose:

Explain what you hope your research will find or show. State your research question.

 

3.Background: Describe and define your topic, and explain your interest and experience with this topic. Describe any previous research you have conducted on this or related topics, any classes you have taken on this or related topics, or any reading you have already done in the field. If you have personal experience that has lead you to want to do more research, describe that here too.

 

4.Significance:

Explain why this topic is important or worth considering. Describe your reader’s interest in this topic.

 

5.Method(How you will go about your research):

Describe how you will conduct your research in as much detail as possible.(What approach, methods, or strategies will I use to explore this topic? Will I use interviews, surveys, personal narrative, statistics and/or references to books, articles, or electronic media? How will I acquire these sources?)

 

6. Sources:

Identify several authors whose work you will use as evidence for your argument.
