Overview

To be an effective retail manager, you must be able to formulate strategies to move the business forward. This course project will give you an opportunity to wear the many hats of a retail manager and learn to analyze situations to formulate successful business strategies. For your course project, you will watch different sections of an animation detailing aspects of a fictitious retail organization called the Country Store. Based on the Country Store, you will complete the following components:

· Watch the “Employee Needs Assessment” section of the animation and assess traffic patterns, trends, and demographics to determine employee need.

· Once the total employee need is determined, analyze the business operations to determine where to place the employees in the store.

· Watch the “Performance Management” section of the animation and develop specific measures you would use to resolve the performance issues.

· Describe the positive and negative implications of implementing your selected measures.

Project Objectives

To successfully complete this project, you will be expected to:

1. Evaluate and develop retail environment to positively impact the consumer buying decision.

2. Analyze business operations to determine employee needs and successfully manage employees.

3. Create plan to enforce compliance with applicable regulatory, legal, and corporate policies.

4. Evaluate planning concepts to determine and maintain an appropriate product mix and profit margin.

Describes the purpose, importance, and relevancy of three or more corporate policies in detail.

Describes strategies for effectively managing supply chain.

Describes current economic trends that impact the supply chain.
