Overview: For this assignment you must select an important political topic and create a political survey using the website

. You must also distribute the survey via email and collect responses.

Research Steps:

1. Select a topic to research: You may select any current and relevant topic in American politics to center your political survey around. You should take into consideration how many other people will be aware of the topic you will survey, so national or state topics are likely more suitable than local issues.

2. Write your survey: Once you have selected a topic you will need to create a survey using the website
www.surveymonkey.com
. Survey Monkey will allow you to create a ten (10) question survey and collect 100 responses for free, which is ideal for this assignment. It will be important for you to take into consideration will be the most important questions to ask and how you should word both the question and the responses. I will post a webcast discussing these issues in depth, but please feel free to consult with me during this process.

3. Post your survey and collect responses: After completing the assignment on Survey Monkey you will be given a specific URL that links directly to your survey. It is your responsibility to get people to complete your survey and collect responses. Using social media is a good idea. Posting the URL to your survey on Facebook or Twitter can generate a lot of “hits” and just emailing people the link can be helpful too. Remember that you can only collect 100 responses so keep a careful eye on your survey responses once you make your survey public.
