Survey Research Paper Information

Overview: Using the data you collected from your political survey this assignment calls on you to analyze the data you collected while comparing it to other surveys being conducted on the same topic. You must also utilize the academic literature that is available on your specific political topic. The assignment must include at least seven (7) sources and be between 1500-1750 words in length.

Research Steps:

1. Analyze your data: Once you have collected all of your responses you should start your analysis of the responses. Survey Monkey has a number of tools that will help you analyze your data and I will post webcasts about different research strategies for analyzing your data prior to the assignment.

2. Research your topic: While you are analyzing the data from your survey, it will be important for you to research your topic from an academic standpoint. You will want to see what other survey researchers have found and compare/contrast that with what you have found. Constantly think about what your findings may have differed from what others have found and why that is the case. Additionally, research news articles on your topic in order to get a better understanding of the nuances of your issue.

3. Start writing: Writing a research paper is a little different. You want to start the paper with an in-depth explanation of your topic, which is commonly referred to as a literature review. Following the literature review, you will then explain your survey, how it was created, and what you expected to find prior to conducting your survey. The final section of the paper should analyze the data from your survey and compare/contrast that with what others have found. You should also have a formal conclusion paragraph.

4. Write properly. There are seven (7) sources required for this writing assignment. Please make sure to follow proper MLA citation guidelines that are posted on Moodle as well as the MLA citation form.
