Impact to well-being can include Depression, stress, anxiety, financial stability, social etc. I think your mental is the most important because it can impact how we think, act and feel. The prefect example was from Rebecca from the Zybook (Zybooks 5.1). Dealing with depression and anxiety while being under constant pressure to perform at your job or even at your home has to be extremely tough.

Everyone manages their mental health differently, so I don’t think it affects everyone the same. Having family members that suffer from mental health, I can say that most of them cope with this by eating, smoking and or drinking. Then you have some that seek help by talking to family or friends.

Talking to family or friends is helpful because they can guide you to the right direction. Your well- being is important because it impacts your health, you can live a more fulfillment life. By taking care of  your physical and mental health it can help prevent certain health conditions.

Today many of the chronic diseases we have can be prevented and are related to unhealthy lifestyles. Learning how to maintain good health and prevent risk factors for certain conditions may be not easy for some individuals while for others this may be not even a question.

I had the opportunity to work as a Health Educator in a variety of settings and with diverse populations in different agencies, common general concerns when working in the field were the frequency and rate of cases of diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol which can lead the cardiovascular disease; some families had the false beliefs that they couldn’t control their risks for these disease until we provided some education and awareness interventions that opened people’s eyes to make some healthy changes in their lives.

Class, please review our course reading materials, or other credible sources, and discuss the following:

What exactly is a healthy lifestyle? Does that include just our weight and physical activity or what other factors that can trigger cardiovascular disease, certain types of cancer, or diabetes? Does our mental health play a role as part of a healthy lifestyle? Why? Why not?
