After reading the attached article by Barends, Rousseau, & Briner (2014), answer the discussionquestion below (all the various steps) must be answered to receive full credit for the question.
Step 1: Identify an issue faced by nurse leaders working in clinical practice today. Make sure to
provide sufficient evidence to support this as relevant and important clinical issue.
Step 2: Describe how you would go about applying evidence-based management practice or
evidence-based healthcare to solving this issue. Provide a detailed description of evidence-based
management/healthcare strategies to address the issue and why this approach is so important for
nurse leaders and managers in today’s health care environment? Make sure to include a description
of the sources of evidence that need to be considered when looking at this clinical issue (integrate
the scientific, organizational, experiential and stakeholder evidence as they pertain to this clinical
issue). Explain why the use of best available evidence is so critical for nursing leaders.
Step 3: Describe specific ways nurse leaders can support and promote evidence-based nursing
practice within their unit and within a healthcare institution. Describe at least 3 specific strategies that
can be utilized to facilitate the use of research and evidence-based practice.
Step 4: Explain the role that nursing observation and intuition have in evidence-based decision
making for clinical nurses. How does evidence-based practice improve professional confidence in
nursing. How would you integrate emotional intelligence into the process of evidence-based decision
making for nurses.

Peer Response
Ensure that the your peer discussion post are a minimum of 200 words and use references and
course readings to support. One response to all discussions are also due within 2 weeks of
original postings (or week it was due these are staggered and you are only required to reply to
one peer post for that week not two. It may be a moot point but just know that you only need
to respond to one peer posting not two within each of the remaining weeks.
