There’s a strong relationship between culture identities and power that studies beyond descriptions of cultural diversity. Identities offer participation in a global environment on the relationship between cultural perspectives and structures of power. For example it discusses the shared representations of social, political, economic and cultural boundaries as aspects of processes of domination, struggle and resistance, and it probes the unidentified and unarticulated class structures and gender relations that remain integral to both maintaining and challenging subordination. Identities help answer questions about the global economy and cultural practices that have perpetuated transnational movement among populations. The White Girl article considers minority’s portrayal by others not of that minority. It argues that it’s impossible to understand or related to that minority if you are of different culture. When people portray them on television they should really be of that ethnicity or it’s impossible to understand or portray correctly “Some may produce keenly observed, authentic-feeling portrayals, but even those who have spent their whole lives surrounded by people of diverse backgrounds will never know first-hand what it’s like to be a person of color in America”Jandt, F. (2004). Gender differences in communication: An intercultural experience. Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage Publications.
