Examine a specific tradition, cultural practice or rite of passage in a culture other than your own.2. Develop a two-paragraph posting that examines ONEof the following cultural practices:

• Practices on dating, marriage, raising children (may choose ONE of these)
• Gender roles within the culture
• Age recognition ceremonies
• Rite of passage in becoming a man or woman
• Death ceremonies
• Another relevant ceremony central to understanding the culture.

In your posting, provide a history of the practice, key activities and individuals associated with the practice and the significance of this practice or tradition using your developing sociological perspective.

Demonstrate that you understand the lens sociologists use when we read other cultures (opposed to the everyday actor’s perspective), the danger of Othering, and that you’ve learned the concepts in the module and textbook by applying the concepts. Cite the textbook and any outside sources in-text APA style (no need for academic sources besides your textbook on discussions – only papers!)
