The purpose of the Week 5 Individual Assignment is to explore risk identification and assessment techniques for your group project.

Background

Since we know that projects are inherently risky endeavors, we want to identify and assess individual project risks, as well as the sources of overall project risks, so that we have more control over these potential risks. There are various tools and techniques that a project manager can employ to identify and assess project risk. How you conduct project risk identification and assessment is based on the approach the organization has adopted; the risk management approach adopted is generally tailored to consider the project size and complexity, the importance of the project, and the development approach (traditional, agile, or a combination of both).

Assignment Instructions

Using your group project topic and considering that your team is using a traditional approach to project management, discuss how you would approach project risk identification and assessment.

Provide a description of your group project and describe the project environment.Identify the individual project risks and overall project risks (those that could arise from sources of uncertainty).Explain what tools and techniques would be appropriate to identify these potential risks.Discuss how you would assess the probability and impact of these potential risks.
