Project 1 – Researching The History of Computer Components

Objective: To gain insight into the history and development of one of the critcal components of modern computers.

Assignment: Write a research paper using, MLA, Chicago, APA or another formal research paper format that details the history and development of one of the primary components of a computer. You should choose one of the following: Processors, Memory, Storage, Motherboards.

Details: Your research paper should contain the following information:

• The history of the componentWhat was its development pathWhat were interesting milestones in its evolution to modern platformsWhat roadblocks existed in its developent
• The evolution of the componentWhat are the features of the modern componentHow does it compare to its predecessorsWhat (if any) improvements could be made?

Papers should be a maximum of 10 pages in length, not including works cited, title page and table of contents.

Finished reports are due, printed and bound, in class on November 9th.

Pages will be graded on the following:

• 25 points – Overall description and history of the component
• 30 points – Investigation into the component itself
• 25 points – Evolution of the component
• 10 points – formatting, grammer, presentation

Bonus points will be awarded for creative analysis, graphics, insight and other innovitive thinking
