(a) Propose a network to accommodate the office locations above. You should specify the types of links that can be used to inter-connect the sites.

(b) Develop a network number plan and assign IP addresses to routers used at each location.

(c) Assuming Power Networks elects to use static routing on each of the routers, what route entries would be required on each of the routers. You may simply list the network and next hop, you do not need to provide the specific command to implement the route

2. Power Networks has been hired as a consultant to BARTLETT, Inc. BARTLETT has a single site located in Toledo, Ohio, with 32 devices on an ethernet network. Power Network’s job is to link BARTLETT’s existing network to the Internet. The internal network number is 10.0.0.0/24 and cannot be easily changed.

When BARTLETT originally installed the network, IP address 10.0.0.1 was reserved for the “internet router”. BARTLETT would also like to use their internal Windows 2008 Exchange Server as their inbound smtp mail server. The IP address of the server is 10.0.0.2. BARTLETT is unsure of how to obtain an Internet connection and which items to purchase.

(a) Discuss the various methods by which BARTLETT might connect to the Internet. Make a judgment about which method might be best for BARTLETT and justify your answer.

(b) Based on the method selected above, identify the equipment you would have to purchase in order to connect to the Internet.

3. Power Networks has been hired as a consultant to BARTLETT, Inc. BARTLETT has a large enterprise network with multiple sites in various geographic areas. The CEO of BARTLETT is aware of “alternatives” to the current version of the well established Internet Protocol and is very interested in “bleeding edge” technology. BARTLETT would like Power Networks to explore the possibility of deploying alternatives to IPv4 on their enterprise network.

As a network engineer for Power Networks, you have been assigned to prepare a document discussing the various methods by which BARTLETT might utilize an alternative to IPv4. Your discussion should include identification of various competing options, their advantages and disadvantages. Make a judgment about which technology might be best for BARTLETT and justify your answer.
